Ken Johnson, Clark County Emergency Management Agency
Co-Chair: 2016-2018

Ken is the Deputy Director of the Clark County Ohio Emergency Management Agency. He successfully brings together groups from the private, public, and non-profit sectors to collaborate and plan for the wide scope of emergency management functions of preparing for, responding to, and recovering from large scale emergencies and disasters. He serves as the Chairman of the Clark County Functional Needs Committee, a dedicated team to prepare and protect Clark County’s most vulnerable populations.   He has presented local best practices in the area of functional needs to others at the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).  Mr. Johnson holds certificates in FEMA Advanced Professional Series (APS), and State Interoperability Executive Committee (SIEC) - Communications Unit Leader (COML) for a Type III Incident.  He is also a volunteer with the Ohio Military Reserve (OHMR), a component of the Ohio Adjutant General's Department.

Karon has been the Dayton VAMC’s Suicide Prevention Coordinator for the past five years, ensuring the Dayton VAMC is implementing best practices to assist with reducing suicides. One of the ways is assisting in creating the Suicide Risk Assessment Simulation Training Program.  Karon has instructed courses with the American Red Cross for over 10 years acting as the Captain for a local Disaster Team and has supervised Mental Health volunteers during regional and national disasters. Practicing in the Social Work field for over 19 years, Karon has provided mental health services for the community and the VA, providing crisis intervention coverage for community agencies, assessing patients for suicidality and safety.  Karon is a Board Member of the following organizations: Co-Chair for the Center for Disaster Mental Health, Board Member of the Tri County MH Suicide Prevention Coalition, Member with the NASW and the National Professional Women Association.
